Natural stone, concrete pavers, or flagstone — laid over a base built for Northland freeze-thaw, and sized around how you gather rather than around a template.

"Miller Creek installed pavers, bluestone steps, and flagstones to tie our driveway, walkway, and deck together. They exceeded our expectations in almost every way. The final installation was magazine-worthy. My only regret is that I didn't hire them a decade ago."

A patio is the room you use most in summer. Size, material, and how it connects to the house matter more than square footage.
Concrete paver patios with edge restraint and tight joints — resettable in sections if grade ever moves.
Bluestone and cut stone laid for a more formal, architectural surface that ages well.
Irregular flagstone set tight or with planted joints, for a softer and more organic footprint.
Patios designed around a fire pit or fireplace from the start, so seating and clearances actually work.
The walls, caps, and grade changes that turn a flat slab into an outdoor room with defined edges.
Lifting and resetting settled sections, or extending an existing patio so the new work matches the old.
Most patios that disappoint aren't too small — they're the wrong shape, in the wrong spot, or set on a base that let them settle. We start from how you'll use the space and what the site will tolerate.
Every patio we build sits on compacted aggregate deep enough to stay put through freeze-thaw, with grading that moves water away from the house instead of pooling against it. Edge restraint keeps the field from creeping outward under use.
Joints get polymeric sand that resists washout and weed growth, so the surface still reads as tight and intentional after years of freeze cycles, snow removal, and ice melt.
Rooms have edges, a focal point, and a way in. That's why most of our patios include a seating wall, a fire feature, a grade change, or a defined approach — without them, a patio is just a flat area behind the house.
We design the patio together with the walkway that reaches it, the steps that enter it, and the lighting that keeps it usable after dark, so the whole sequence feels like one decision instead of four.
